Shaun Du Val is an artist living and working in Jersey, Channel Islands. He draws much of his inspiration from the stunning coastal landscapes to be found around this beautiful island.
Whilst he is predominantly self - taught, he has undertaken several periods of formal training. Between October 2013 and May 2014, whilst a mature student, Shaun was the Artist In Residence at Mont Orgueil Castle, an historic and iconic site on the island's east coast. He is also a member of the Jersey Society of Artists. www.jerseysocietyofartists.com
In recent years, he has won various awards at the Jersey Eisteddfod including, in 2016, the overall trophy for best piece of Adult Art for the acrylic piece, "Storm clearing over St. Martin."
Much of Shaun's most recent work is concerned with capturing the ever -changing play of light in the sky depending on the time of day and the season, and the corresponding reflections on the sea and shore. He has moved further towards an expressive response to what he sees, although elements of realism can often still be found where he feels that an express or implied identification of the location adds value to the work, or serves to anchor it in the viewer's mind's eye.
Shaun has of late been working almost exclusively in oils.
He has undertaken several commissions for landscape / seascape work and is available for further work. Please use the ‘contact me’ button on this website for enquiries. He can also be found on Facebook as Shaun Du Val Artist.
